OUR BOOK LAUNCH WORKSHOPS
We're so overwhelmed by the happy faces at our workshops that took place last weekend, and want to thank everyone that joined us on Friday, Saturday and Sunday! It was a joy to meet you all. We loved our first foray into neon ink workshops, and it seemed you did too!
Our lovely friend and amazing photographer Laura McCluskey joined us on the Friday and took these beautiful shots - and we couldn't resist sharing. The event was the culmination of lots (and lots) of hard work from our team, and some incredibly talented suppliers - luckily for us we know some super gals for the job, working in the events industry ourselves.
We were always going to do something special for the launch of Chiara's new book Nib + Ink, and decided on neon workshops in the same week that British furniture dream store Habitat contacted us about their gallery space on Kings Road - Platform. (Thanks universe!) Instantly sold by the pouring day light and bustle of one of the smartest streets in London, we set about planning our events over the course of the book launch weekend. Habitat provided us with gorgeous crockery, glassware, tea pots, marble cake stands and paddle boards, even sofas and coffee tables - we were spoilt!
For the decorations, we had a vision of green and white minimalism, paired with calligraphy installations to create a writing wonder room, I feel like we fulfilled the brief - what do you think? We'd love to know your thoughts!
First port of call for incredible floristry was our very good friends The Isle of You. Kitten (their resident flower stylist) is a floral dream, creating whimsical trailing foliage dotted with white silk flowers and organic strands like magic as we watched her transform the festoon lighting into showstopping garlands. The balloon wall was created by Minimal Affair, an impressivley new business, who create super stylish balloon and bubble installations incorporating greenery, pretty white tassels and garlands. Chiara wrote on the biggest balloon in metallic gold - a party trick of hers, and it's an idea that actually features in the new book's projects. We also made an envelope wall, featuring calligraphy, brush lettering, our signature ink splatters and colours relating to the book, and Kitten finished it off with wild flowers and foliage.
After practising calligraphy in black ink as per our #moderncalligraphy101 workshop, the class stopped for a decadent afternoon tea, with bubbles, teas and coffee, a selection of scandi inspired open sandwiches, incredible dark chocolate brownies with coconut and cherries, spelt scones with clotted cream and blackberry jam, and a rose and pistacchio topped lemon drizzle poppy seed loaf. Honestly, mouth watering, and as delicious as they were photogenic. The food was lovingly made by The Floury, which is actually the bakery business of the Lamplighter studio assistant Holly. What a keeper!
We were SO sad to take it down, I honestly don't think we would tire of the decorations!
Our experienced professional calligrapher Chiara teaches modern calligraphy workshops every 6 weeks or so, with special attention on fun experiences for our guests, in spectacular locations, with treats, lunches, beautiful decoration and greenery. Style & substance. We find the mindfulness of calligraphy goes hand in hand with light filled, serene rooms, and well of course champagne is well known to improve calligraphy practise...
Come join our next workshops - available dates here. Nib + Ink is available to buy from a whole host of beautiful shops, and on our online store.
Have a super weekend! xo
