Join Chiara to discover the possibilities of acrylics and pastels through play and experimentation.

To give you an idea of the potential contained in these materials, Chiara will share examples of work from artists she loves who apply paints and then add pastels using different methods.

She will then demonstrate a range of paint and pastel mark making techniques, which we will practice together to build knowledge and confidence.

Using Ellie’s still life’s for inspiration Chiara will guide you through her painting process. We will begin by making short pencil sketches of the still life arrangement to consider compositions. We’ll then make quick botanical paintings to get a feel for the brushes, paint and pastels and to try out the mark making techniques we’ve learned. Finally, we’ll build up to a longer still life, which will bring together elements learned in the class.

By the end of the hour you will have created a fun and summery, modern floral painting, and feel excited to further explore your practise.
